I agree with Jim. If the website is in addition to the list, that could be
helpful,
however Iatrics already does that. I would never promote replacing the list
with a
website. The biggest benefit I have found with the Meditech-L list is that I
become aware
of valuable information or solutions that I wasn't even looking for.
Frequently I learn
something valuable that I would never have browsed for on a website. The same
goes for
responding to a question... when I come across a question I can help with, I
can easily
respond to the requestor or the list.. I definitely wouldn't browse a website
to see
if I can answer any questions.

Julia,
This is quite an interesting website, but I find the Meditech-L much more
efficient in getting the message across.

There are some shortfalls to the Meditech-L but I surely have no time
browsing thru a topic driven website.

Just my 2 cents,

Jim Purvins

I just saw the reference to www.MeditechTalk.com in another message, so
naturally I checked it out.

First, let me make it clear that I'm not affiliated in any way with either
the Meditech-L list or the MeditechTalk web site, so what I have to say is
my opinion and mine alone. I'm also not sending this to the L to start
anything or cause trouble, but the L is our primary tool for communication
and I wanted to share my observations with all of you.

The Meditech-L references on MeditechTalk struck me as negative and
unnecessary. I quote:
"If you were tired of receiving HUNDREDS of emails every day from a certain
List, then this site is for YOU! Instead of searching THOUSANDS of
DISCONNECTED emails and messages, you can search through a neatly organized
website!" In a survey on the Home page, the first two answers to the
question "Why will you join the Meditech Talk community?" are "Cannot find
anything on the L-List" and "My In Box is too full of L-List messages".

I couldn't find any responsible parties' names on the web site, so I don't
know who has created it but it might be a good idea. I don't like the
impression of competition between a web site and a list, though. I don't
like the impression of 'negative campaigning' that these comments give.

Huh. I've still been poking around on the web site and I do see that the
site admin has a web site listed: Website: http://www.RPhInformatics.com.
And . . . the original reference to MeditechTalk came from
[EMAIL PROTECTED] So I guess RPHInformatics is the
creator/owner/operator of MeditechTalk. And . . . RPHInformatics.com is
still "under construction". Curiouser and curiouser. . .
