Hi,
We plan to print out a codabar unit number when we create aliquots or
other component products and add the new unit number to the base label.
The problem I am having is that the codabar barcode for the product is
about 2 inches long and the FDA regulation regarding uniform labeling
practices says that the unit number must fit into the 1 inch upper
center square. FDA only gives you a 0.2 inch varience. How are other
sites handling this? When I try to shorten the barcode to 1 inch
Meditech just cuts off the barcode instead of condensing it and then it
is unreadable if you try to scan it. I checked with the FDA and the
codabar format and the ISBT128 format are both valid labeling formats
but they are not interchangable, so if you are using codabar you must
follow the codabar guidelines.
Any ideas?
