These questions are for any Meditech Client Server sites who are currently
using Meditech to check Medical Necessity.
1. How do you load your acceptable diagnosis codes into the Billing Requirement
Dictionary? ( i.e. manually, Info-X, etc)
2. If you use a service like Info-X (3M) to load your acceptable diagnosis
files, do you have any issues with and how are you handling:
a. Having diagnosis codes remain in the billing requirements dictionary which
are no longer covered.
b. Having Meditech load acceptable diagnosis codes for a billing procedure if
it ever contained an ALT code that is part of the current file being loaded.
In other words, not restricting the loading of acceptable diagnosis codes to
the most recent effective ALT code.
c. When an entire CPT code is no longer valid for MN checking and is no longer
contained in the file from Info-X, the billing code remains active in the
billing requirements dictionary and available for MN checking.
3. How do you check medications for MN prior to dispensing medications that
require MN checking?
4. How are you handling MN checking for medications like Epotin Alpha (J0885),
ARANESP (J0881) or NEULASTA (J2505) when it requires dual diagnosis?
5. How do you handle MN checking for lab tests that have multiple components
where more than 2 require MN checking?
