Title: pre-registered surgical patients
Cindy,

We're C/S 5.4 SR2, so I'm not sure if this function is available to you, but we have Letters built in the system that we can enter in a Letters/Tables Form so that certain Location become designated Print Destinations for these notification letters whenever a Surgical Appointment is booked through SCH.  We have flexibility in the content of the letter (we have to build them ourselves) but our letter contains most of the items you mentioned and more (we don't include pre-reg data, although you might be able to if those fragments are available in the letters dictionary).  If this is a Magic routine, too, and you have any questions, please give me a call.

Good luck,

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] pre-registered surgical patients

Hello!

I need a little help, please. I am new to this list, so bear with me if I’m asking something obvious.

I want to be able to send a message to pre-op any time a surgical patient, whether inpatient or outpatient, pre-registers. I need to pass along patient name, pre-reg date, pre-reg time, doctor’s name and date of surgery.

I don’t think an OA message will work, because we are on Magic 5.4, and the OA message dictionary doesn’t allow for an OA message for pre-reg patients only. The business office also doesn’t want to add any more queries to the admissions CDS.

I’ve thought about calling an NPR from the face sheet NPR that prints after the pre-registration is filed. What I don’t know how to do, though, is get it to only pull the information about the patient I just pre-registered and how to get it to print automatically to the printer in pre-op and not in admissions.

There may, of course, be an entirely better way to do this, so I am open to suggestions.

Thanks in advance for your help!
