We are currently reviewing how we can provide PCI access to private practice
physicians that are seeing patients who were previously seen here at
Children's Hospital. The problem we encounter is when the physician needing
access is not the primary or attending physician and a consult order has not
been placed on the patient before they were discharged. The physician is not
part of a provider group that includes a provider that has been linked to
the patient. These patients typically go see these specialist several days
or even a couple of months after discharge.

We need a way for private practice office management personnel and providers
to self assign PCI access to patients that they are scheduled to see and be
able to track access through an audit report or utilization report to ensure
they are only accessing patient records they have a business need to see.

We have reviewed the self-assign access option but find that it can only be
used for providers. Has anyone in the same situation dealt with this issue
and found a viable solution ?

Thanks,

Brad Moore
