Our ancillary director would like to submit the following questions Is there a way to prompt and document a called result for any positive CSF culture and any positive Blood Culture? (The same type prompt that is used in the Lab module for the critical values is what I would like) Martha, There is a way to do this, it's just not as straight forward in Micro as it is in Lab. You can build a non-orderable T-type test in Micro that only has a Para type screen with an auto comment with the mnemonic of whatever your critical called to comment is. Then you could create a Procedure Prompt that says something like Culture Positive? and give it a default response of "Y". This procedure prompt could be attached to the CULT type screen for Blood Culture or CSF. This procedure prompt will be invoked when you enter the CULT type screen to enter the organism. In the Procedure Prompt Dictionary, you can make the default answer of "Y" invoke a Reflex Order Group that contains the non-orderable T-test you previously created. Thus, when an organism is entered, the reflex group with the auto comment is invoked prompting the user to call the result. I wasn't kidding when I said it was more involved than Lab! Is there a report that can be generated in the MIC module that would give all oxicillin resistant Staph Aureus susceptibility results and break it down to sources? The Micro Infection Control report will give you this data, provided you have flagged the organism to go to the Infection Control report in the Organism Dictionary, or based on the response to a Procedure Prompt.
