Our system generates the regular hourly rate as set up in the observation charge dictionary, but then if it is a Medicare patient that is coming directly to the floor versus coming in through the ER, HIM generates the G code for the initial assessment. Has any site automated this so that minimal manual intervention/tracking is needed? If the observation G codes are hard coded in your chargemaster, are they being successfully passed to the bill?
