Thanks Marge, I appreciate your reply. At least I don't feel so alone knowing that someone else has a 14+hour wait to run a file :-) Ron -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, May 25, 2006 7:11 AM To: McBride, Ronald; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: [email protected] Subject: RE: [MEDITECH-L] Micromedex vs. First DataBank Ron, Yes, we are Magic and it takes us 14+ hours to load MDX also. We were the first magic hosp and had lots of issues - most of which we have worked out. The pharmacists don't have issues with most of the dose ranges - in the few where they do, they create their own. Of course, we are a speciality hospital and have a very small formulary - compared to others so that may be part of the reason. The meditech-l web site is MTUsers.com ====================================== haha well it takes 14+ hours to load the files and then another few hours to file....... I had my hopes up there but then you said you were C/S... man, what a difference... I wonder if any other Magic Micromedex users experience the kind of load times I am??? thanks though Ron -----Original Message----- From: Hopkins, Myla [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, May 24, 2006 11:08 AM To: McBride, Ronald Subject: RE: [MEDITECH-L] Micromedex vs. First DataBank Ok.......there are reports in PHA that let me know if the files uploaded completely System Management-->Interfaces-->Formulary Service-->Reports-- I find these helpful in confirming the issues you outlined below, do you not have these reports? Or do they not work with Micromedex? I do know FirstData Bank is the preferred formulary with MT....... The pharmacy hasn't made any mention to me of duplicates so I am not sure on that one. I would think that if there was a problem they'd bring it to my attention It takes about 20-30 minutes to completely load and file the CD each month. How long is it taking you I delete my old run after my new run has been filed I just noticed that you are MAGIC we are C/S......so there may be big differences in what you are experiencing....I am sorry I failed to mention in my response that we were Client Server.... -----Original Message----- From: McBride, Ronald [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, May 24, 2006 12:22 PM To: Hopkins, Myla Subject: RE: [MEDITECH-L] Micromedex vs First DataBank Hi Myla, I looked up Ericka and I guess she no longer works here. I couldn't find anyone by that name that does that job. here are the issues we have had: **Micromedex problems**: One of the problems was because of a buffer overflow that occurred while loading file 42 of the 53 files into the system. We did not get any warning or any indication that the upload did not complete properly nor do we have any way to determine if all the filesuploaded successfully. We have had issues with duplicates not flagging and interaction checking on IV's not working. The recommended updating process of Micromedex from Meditech leaves the Pharmacy without interaction checking for the majority of the hours it takes to upload and file . Meditech recommends deleting the old run as the first step to the formulary upload process and it should not affect interaction checking. The fact is that it indeed does leave the pharmacy without interaction checking. We have changed this process so they are without interaction checking only for a brief period by never deleting the run files. **FDB Questions**: Do you have any of the above issues with FDB?? How long does it take to upload First Data Bank formulary service into Meditech from start to finish? What issues exist for Magic 5.5 SR 2 Magic and First Data Bank, if any? thanks for your help.... We are Meditech 5.5 SR2 and we have been using First Data Bank for years. I am not a pharmacy person I am the Clinical Applications Specialist. I am responsible for loading the update files which we get monthly but I haven't heard any complaints from our PHA on drugs not being available. What sorts of problems have you been experiencing with Micromedex? Maybe I will be able to let you know if I have been experiencing the same problems with First Databank? This is totally off topic but is there a lady by the name of Erika still there that submits data to Premier. I think this is the same hospital. I use to be an Outlook consultant for Premier and Rapid City was one of my sites I use to support and remembered working with Erika. If she's still there tell her Myla said hello...she may remember me :) It's been 4 years since I was at Premier so she may be gone. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of McBride, Ronald Sent: Tuesday, May 23, 2006 5:37 PM To: Meditech L (E-mail) Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Micromedex vs First DataBank All messages should be posted in plain text.
