We did get a DTS to stop aging the patient , if we enter the expiration in the system. She is talking about removing Current age from all patients. Also I found when we saw this the following: If the last visit is an ER visit, they must be departed with the expired disposition. We don't depart our ER visits and that was part of the problem. Our Quality Management person reviews cases in EMR. She had a patient that died somewhere else So our system continued to show the patient current age because that is the way it is. When we look at patients in the EMR , the lab and xray and other various reports all show Age at the time the tests were done which is how it should be. Her issue is that because The EMR shows the current age at the top of the screen, it is confusing. Below is an email >From her. Does anyone else have any comments on this ? She wants only >date of birth to show. My preference would be that for whatever file (account) you open, the age that appears should be the age that the patient was during that encounter. If the patient was admitted in 2001 w/ an MI, I am more interested in his age at the time of that admission than his present age. If the patient had a tonsillectomy in 2001 at the age of 2, I don't want his present age of 7 to appear when I review that file. Having his present age appear is confusing. Just my thoughts."
