Paul,
We have ICS in C/S. I believe we were the only site to have it up until
about a year ago and I think one other C/S facility has it.

Is it worth it?

The product is a bare stripped down email system. It doesn't have
scheduling or the ability to create global distribution groups. So it
depends on what your users need.

With Exchange, our clinical users would have to log off and on the network
to receive their email. With ICS, when the user is logged into Meditech
they can pick up their email. This is why we went with ICS (also liked the
savings in license costs for Exchange).

There are challenges with ICS - the way in which a user identifies the
recipient of an email is very non-intuitive -- and there is no way to create
global distribution groups. Finally -- the fact that you can't pull an ICS
user out of the directory leaves a confusing trail of ex users and current
users. However, the ICS team at Meditech is great to work with and they are
currently working on some of these issues.

I would be glad to speak with you about the pros and cons. Feel free to
call me.
