Here's how we set it up..............

Pharmacy: Define a charge type for each drug to be billed individually.
The charge type dictionary has a field for the B/AR procedure code {billng
code field}.
Associate the charge type with the drug on page 7 of the
drug dictionary

B/AR: Create a billing procedure code for each charge type. You
now have a direct relationship between the drug and billing code.

You can now use the multiplier functionality in the B/AR Procedure
Dictionary to have claims reflect the qty for the "billable unit" for each
of the drugs. To determine what multiplier to use you need to divide the
dispensed unit by the billable unit. This is the value you enter in the
'Quantity Adjustment for Forms" field. You can define which claim group
will use the multiplier.

Example:

Drug: IVIG Dispensed to the patient in 24GM Vials

Charge Type: IVIG 12GM - 24 X 500 MG

B/AR Procedure Dictionary: [Your Procedure Code] - Alt Code "J1566" -
Claim Group Medicare set up with a multiplier of 24 as the billable unit is
500MG.

When claims linked to claim group Medicare process the multiplier field is
referenced. The dispensed unit from PHA sent as the quantity is multiplied
by 24 with the result printing on the claim form. The $$$ amount billed is
not changed. Reimbursement is based on a 'Per Billable Unit Rate'.

Meditech KB article #18478 provides the details for setting up a claim to
use the multiplier the field.

Hope this helps...............

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] J Codes

I know this topic pops up from time to time, but has anyone discovered that
magical bridge between the Pharmacy Module and Bar?

I keep trying to convince myself that Meditech is intelligent enough to
convert dispensing units into J code billing units without totally
reinventing the wheel.
