Hi...
We did this in 1999, and it was pretty interesting. We had been one of
the first Canadian sites to do this. I had to pull my old notes out on
this one. Some of this may not apply but just in case.
We are a Magic site.
Our only problem was Medispan DIN # didn't match FDB's. It took some
time to sort out.
Medispan appends a GPC code at the end of their Din no. It may be that
this Generic Product Code is only attached to Canadian customer files.
IT is to differentiate between different packaging of the same drug. FDB
does NOT append GPC codes at the end of their Din nos. So of course with
no matching DIN's, no drugs matched up or filed.
After much back and forth, and establishing we didn't need or use the
GPC codes, Meditech finally ran a loop removing the last 3 nos off all
our DINs. They then had to refile the drugs to clean up the index file.
We then successfully loaded and filed the FDB tapes.
Besides this, there was a Meditech charge to change over the interface
from Medispan to FDB.

Again.. My notes indicate GPC code was for Canadian sites, you may not
have this problem, but it is worth a check.
Hope this helps,

Good Day,

Has any site using Meditech Client Server completed a Formulary
Service Conversion from Medispan to First Databank and would be will to
share your good and bad issues surrounding this conversion.

We are considering this change due to Meditech Coding the First
Databank changes to improve checking.
