Hi,

We just had a presentation on a "kiosk" although it was not typically
what I considered a kiosk. It was the 3Vue Totem from Sheletron. It
has 3 screens (17" or 19") and is actually an electronic totem pole.
They can custom create them in your hospital colors and they post your
logo also. One screen can be an interactive touch screen (in multi
languages) for a map. The other two screens can show highlights of the
hospital or other information, movies about our fitness circle, etc. It
was very nice.

I have a second hospital I do some work for and they have actual PCs in
the cafeteria, front lobby and surgical waiting area (we are a heart
hospital so people wait there for long periods of time) for visitors to
access internet sites. They are locked down a bit so they cannot
download and have something like parental controls to help with what
sites are accessed. And they always seem to be in use...

Is anyone using kiosks in a hospital?

They seem to be proliferating throughout our society. Kiosks are
appearing in airports, movie theatres, grocery stores, hardware stores,
and many other locations.

If you are using one in a hospital, what is is used for? Patient
registration, patient information, general information, wayfinding,
staff information, propaganda,????

What is the business case for a kiosk? How you do calculate an ROI?
