I know of many hospitals that are opting to call their COWs another
acronym such as CAB (computer at bedside) so the nurses "grab a cab and
go."

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] cows?

Earlier this year we underwent JCAHO survey....Our Surveyor asked if we
used cow for computer on wheels, we did not because we were just getting
carts...

There is a hospital that he knew of where a patient sued and won a large
settlement because this discussion happened outside their door....

Physician: "GET THIS DAMN COW OUT OF HERE ! The patient was
distraught because she was a little overweight and was able to collect
on pain and suffering and so on and so on....... Imagine you are the
patient and overhear the Dr saying this; Most people would take offense
to being referred to as a cow....

We immediately educated that we had "RAC's" .......Roll Around
Computers...............

Just a little FYI..........
