We are getting ready to move to PCS and PCM (C/S 5.5). We are trying to sort through what and how many devices to use for charting. Space is limited both in the rooms and at the nursing stations. We plan on using some carts (COWs) and some dropdown stations. Is anyone using tablets or other handheld devices? Who uses these, e.g. ancillaries, doctors, CNA's, everyone? What other devices are you using? What are physicians using? How did you determine how many devices were needed? We are using a 5:8 formula, five devices for every eight staff at peak staffing. This is admittedly an arbitrary figure but seems reasonable, is it? All advice, guidance and "war stories" gladly accepted Tim Moloney RN Senior Clinical Systems Analyst Southern Illinois Healthcare 1385 E.
