Hi,
we are a facility that uses our own interally developed eMAR in our inpatient
units. We prompt users when to give meds, when to stop meds, when to change meds
and so on. Now we are being asked to prompt users to adjust insulin rates based
on glucose levels (the Portland Protocol). My question is this: Does anyone out
there currently use a system where the end users (nurses) enter in a finger
stick and then having the system tell them what the new rate is? Also, if you
have a solution in place, does it also adjust how often the users are prompted
to check the finger stick again and enter the information to adjust the rate?
For example, if BBG is under 60 mg/dL check BBG every 30 minutes and if BBG is
greater than 60 mg/dL then check every hour. This would then prompt the user
based on the finger stick when the next one is due. Any help that you may be
able to offer is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Micheal
