We use a three-part form for the chart, lab, and bag. Unless we ever were somehow were able to rid ourselves of at least one of the parts (maybe the chart copy), I don't see us moving away from impact printers. We use an Epson dot-matrix.

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Blood Bank Transfusion Card Printing

We are currently using dot matrix printers to print these cards. Our current cards are 7" by 4" and have a 2" by 3.75" label. The card is tied to the bag then put in the medical record, the label is affixed to the bag.  I would like to move away from dot matrix printers and move to something like direct thermal. I am wondering what others out there are using for their transfusion card printing. Dot matrix, direct thermal, laser? Any info would be helpful.

Thank you,
