OneCall sounds great. For a cheap solution, we use Outlook public
folders to house on-call calendars for all of our physicians. If a
physician is out of town or signed out to someone else, we note that on
his on-call calendar. There are shortcuts to these calendars posted on
our intranet but each client does require Outlook (and an Exchange
account). If you already have this environment, it would be an easy and
cheap fix.

Hi,

We currently handle this manually. However, we were very interested in a
product called OneCall. It has the ability to make this process a lot
easier.

While we are not an answering service for our physician's we do from
time to time find ourselves handing off messages. We have a very complex
system of sticky notes. This causes me a great deal concern but I dealt
with it by dedicating one of my ulcers just to physicians.

We do have physician offices fax us their schedules. This information is
available to any that ask. They also alert us when they are going to be
out to another physician. Sometimes they even alert the other physician!

If you would like to know anything else please just drop me a line.

Thanks,

Mike Cottle

I am reviewing our process of documenting when a physician is checked
out to another and logging this information. Right now we are doing it
manually with pen and paper. Are there any systems out there that you
are using and do you take messages for your physicians & how do you
track them down. Do you have a protocol or one number that you call?
We are a 165 Bed facility with 75 physicians. Any information on this
would be greatly appreciated.
