How are sites identifying patients that are pregnant but are admitted for
non-pregnancy related issues?
In particular, how is Pharmacy notified so that medications can be screened for
contraindications in pregnancy?
Are sites using admission diagnoses?
Are sites using PHA Disease fields?
For sites that are using some mechanism to identify these patients, how are you
handling making sure that the information is removed from the patient record
when no longer appropriate?
For example, PHA Disease works best for screening meds a order entry, but it is
demo recall and will be retained for future visits, even if no longer
appropriate.

Currently, we are free-texting this info into a customer defined field on the
Administrative Care Data screen, along with other conditions. This makes it
difficult to construct PHA order rules, or utilize other means to notify the
pharmacist when entering orders that the patient is pregnant.
