Kenny, I believe the cause of the missing original question is the original poster sends the message in html format instead od plain text. Most of us have Outlook set up for receiving and sending messages in plain text only, so html posts are received as attachments. When we reply to these posts, the attachment normally doesn't get forwarded, so if the reply doesn't reference the original question, it is sometimes difficult to figure out the context of the reply. While some people like to share their fancy fonts and amazing background images, it's wasted for those of us who receive text only (unless we click on the attached image files too). I'm guessing the reason for receiving text only posts is a combination of security (no embedded scripts, etc.) and bandwidth.
