We have been LIVE with PCS and the status board/eMAR for about 1 year. Right now our charge nurses "acknowledge" orders on the status board - meaning they reviewed the written order and made sure it was entered correctly by the Unit Secretary. We are now implementing CPOE so there will not be a written order. We are therefore debating what the charge nurse is actually "acknowledging" when they select the ACK option? That the order is correct? What does it mean when they "Acknowledge" a medication from the eMAR? There can be no comparison to the written order. Are there other sites live with CPOE that use the "acknowledge" on the status board and eMAR? What is your definition of what that means?
