When we first went live with NUR on the amb surg floor, our nurses were staying late every night to finish up charting. We thought it would get better after the learning curve and it did, but not enough. We came up with the following: We created a few AMB SURG care plans that have all pre-op interventions combined into one intervention and all post op interventions also combined into one. We then made extensive use of canned text with [] fill in the blanks - many from group responses. Of course, the nurse can always add additional interventions or free text her notes, if necessary.
