We have multiple MISC tests in OE, each with the message query to only
enter 1 test per order. They are something like
MISC, MISC2 MISC3, MISC4. They enter the test name as a query and we
pull the query into the spec comments on the specimen header. That
keeps each misc test separate. It's not fool proof, but it's better
then 1 test with multiple comments.Barbara Howard

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Lab miscellaneous test

Hi,

I was wondering how other hospital's handle miscellaneous test's for
Lab ordered through OE. When the nursing staff orders the miscellaneous
test they enter the comments as far as what test and what specimen Then
lab orders the test through ARUP and when the results come back they
enter those in the paragraph section in Lab. At that point nursing sees
the test

and results. The problem some patients may have multiple miscellaneous
tests. The nursing staff does not know what test was actually ordered
because all they see is miscellaneous test from the time it is ordered
until the result is entered. How is nursing notified as to what test
was

ordered and that is was ordered based on the miscellaneous order? Is it
possible to get the queries entered by nursing on the specimen reports
so they will know what was ordered. .

Thank you,
