I believe the answer to both is YES. First, to make an I and O screen, make a CDS with the desired queries. Then go to the nursing dictionaries and create an intervention for the I and O. Attach the CDS to the intervention.
Second, we have not yet gone live with EMAR and BMV, but are in the implementation stages. From what I have tested, you can attach a CDS to a particular medication that can have rate changes, and could have a place for 2 signatures. I created one for Heparin which pulls in the last APTT as well, so the nurses know when the next APTT should be schedule according to our policies. Again, you can attach this to the med, as well as an intervention so it appears on the Process Intervention screen.

We are a Meditech Magic site with version 5.5, preparing for a possible Fall 2007 update for version 5.6. I am looking for suggestions for 2 issues. This first can I create a CDS attached to narcotics (specifically large volume) and/or for high risk meds (Heparin gtts, etc), attached to the medication itself so that nurses can show rate changes, while requiring a Co-Signer. For example, if I have a patient with a Morphine gtt, and I have an order for a rate change, I want my nurses to document the rate change WITH a Co-Signer.
Secondly, we do not yet have our I/O’s documented in the system (still using actual paper!). Because I’m a new analyst, I’m learning, but I’ve drawn a blank on how to create documentation for this issue.
