Hi,
I work for Samaritan Health Services and we used a consultant to assist with
implementing PACS. Our experience was unique. We had 4 PM with the last
being the PACS Coordinator. There were several reasons why each left (our
PACS coordinator remains), but over all dealing with the politics and not
implementing was our largest hurdle.
We established a core group consisting of manager and upper level
administration.
Another group consisting of a few managers, leads from each of our hospitals
and the leads from the information services department.
The last was our super user group that was also our implementation, trainers
and testers for the system.
This method appears to work for our site.
In light of the fact we had more than one consultant, I am not sure I can
speak on how well one was over the other since they all came from different
companies.
I wish you and your organization the best with finding someone and your
upcoming implementation.
Elizabeth

Looking for information and recommendation on consulting companies
you may have used to work through the PACS selection project. What
companies are out there that are really good at working with this type of
project and were you satisfied with the results of their engagement? Did
you feel you received value for the money spent and would you go this route
again? Also, some basic insight into where you are in the project - still
selecting, installing, completely installed. Was your consultant good at
guiding you in the necessary steps to take, keep the project on track and so
on. Also, if you had a PACS committee what was the member make up of your
group. Any info you are willing to share will be appreciated. Thanks in
advance.
