What is $T RAD ?
We are going to be going LIVE with Dictaphone in a month or so. We currently use MEDITECH directly and type in Word.
Our problem with dictaphone is it doesnt send bold or underline across the interface to MEDITECH. The transcriptionists
will have to type control characters before and after the text they want bolded or underlined. For example typing \ZHU\ The
\N\ would underline the word The and then return to normal.
The interface sends it to rich text in MEDITECH . The other problem is Word doesnt see the bold or underline text in
rich text so we had to ask MEDITECH to do another custom for us. It is a lot of work for simple word processing functions
like bold and underline.
Dictaphone blames MEDITECH , MEDITECH says that is the way WORD is .

We have always used WORD to type reports because you can do tables and other word processing functions. Each report
also generates a rich text report and that works fine with bold and underline.

How do you handle not seeing bold and underline text in your reports in MEDITECH ? We are C/S ver 5.4 sr 3.

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Re: Radiology transcription

Would anyone care to share their solution for Radiology transcription?  We have $T RAD and have always typed directly into RAD.  We also have Dictaphone which is interfaced to Departmental.  We are reviewing our transcription needs and would like to centralize our transcription.  Is anyone still using $T RAD for report entry?  Does the "Word" integration help?  Would anyone suggest simply changing over to departmental reports, which would involve retraining the Radiologist and end users?

Any comments are appreciated.
Thank you,
Rita Denison
