Heather and Others,

I’m so expert but I believe there are Laser bands which are made specifically so they are harder to get off but they cost more.  Check with the various companies who sell the laser bands.

Please post to list.

We are using a sticker on the back of an embosser name plate (yes, I said embosser).  The problem with this is when patients are here for a while and bathe, the barcode is no longer readable.    We did try the Laserband armbands but like you pointed out, they are easily removed.

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Patient ID bands

I have been asked to post this question by our Registration Director.

We are using laser patient ID bands that are printed thru Registration.  The problem we have encountered is that patients are removing them while still a patient.  Apparently they are finding these very easy to remove compared to the old ones that had the snaps.  Have any of you experienced this issue and have you found a solution?

If you are using the laser printed bands what vendor and manufacturer are you using?
