We have a new provider group that specializes on Joint and Spinal
surgeries and we created protocols for these ortho cases. We only have
general Med/Surg and ICU units so our assessment forms are very general
in nature and do not really address some of the things that are included
in the protocol. For now, these joint and spinal cases are mixed with
our M/S population. If everything goes well, they will have their
designated unit.
For those of you who have specialized units (ie. Ortho, GI,....), does
each have their own unit-specific assessment (Admission, Shift) form? I
am tempted to create a specific assessment form to cater to this ortho
group but then I would not want to confuse the nurses as far as what
forms they would have to use as we have other ortho cases that belong to
different providers who are not as specific as the new group. Any input
is appreciated.
