Ganesh,
Thanks. I will check to see if we have the DTS's that you mentioned. A few
days ago Meditech closed the issue we had with them, but I insisted that
they reopen it, which they have. If anything good comes about it, I will let
the Meditech-L know about it.
Tom

meyouropinion?

we're now magic 5.4, but i've had a problem with
abs.pat.adm.locations.and.scus for years. a typical exchange would involve
an example from me that would elicit a response such as this:
xxxxx,Elizabeth (MEDITECH) - Jan 15, 2004 - 1049 EST: Hi Ganesh, the
programmer would like to send the following DTSs to you: ABS DTS 2139 &
2131 & 2166 & 2156, 2271

this would be followed by more rants from me - "ganesh seshadri (via Web) -
Jan 19, 2004 - 1614 EST: it fixed the problem with the ER stay getting an
incorrect GCC location assignedin ABS.PAT however, it seems to have
introduced a new problem. it appears the system correctly enters records
corresponding to the first (ER) and second (GCC)locations. after that, if
the patient executes numerous transfers, it seems to skip many of the
intermediate locations, and plugs in only the GCC transfers"

with more fixes and more counter examples.

and then we upgrade to a new version and start from scratch:

xxxxxx,Harold (MEDITECH) - Sep 16, 2005 - 0918 EDT: Hi xxxxx, You
sucessfully resolved this problem for the customer on Task 3840712. The site
has since had an update to 5.4 in April and the problem has returned. Do you
have any ideas as to how to fix the problem again for this
customer?Thanks,Harry
xxxx,Jintao (MEDITECH) - Sep 16, 2005 - 0940 EDT: Hi Harold, i think the
site will need ABS DTS 2649. please get the change control from the site and
you can then send to Ricky to deliver the DTS. no downtime is need. Thanks!

I generally notice that the specific problems i report seem to get fixed by
the DTSs they load, but on more than one occassion, they reappear. i havent
done any validation recently to see if there are discrepencies now, but my
users haven't noticed any glaring omissions recently. you may want to check
the DTSs i've listed above to see if you have all of them.

regards, ganesh seshadri, indiana regional

I am looking for your opinion:

We are a Meditech Magic 5.4 site. I feel I have identified a serious
problem with the location history in ABS. Meditech says it is not a problem
and has "determined that the system is functioning as designed." I would
like you to do the following in TEST Meditech and tell me whether you notice
a problem.

1. In ADM, register an Inpatient using routine "13. Admission".
2. Wait a minute. Check the patient's location history in ABS using routine
"View Patient Abstract - Consults, Svcs, SCU's and Locations". You should
see 1 location for this patient that matches what you just entered in ADM.
3. In ADM, transfer the patient to a totally DIFFERENT location (don't just
change rooms) using routine "24. Transfer".
4. Wait a minute. In ABS, check the patient's location history using
routine "Consults, Svcs, SCU's and Locations".
You should clearly see that the patient was in one location and then
transferred to another location.
5. In ADM, change the patient to an observation patient using routine "24.
Change In To Observation Patient".
6. Wait a minute. In ABS, check the patient's location history using
routine "Consults, Svcs, SCU's and Locations".

In ABS, did you just lose the original location entered in Step #1? If yes,
you are experiencing what is happening in our system and I would like to
know if you think this a problem? I should note that Meditech has added
DTSs to fix ABS location issues, but they did not resolve this issue.

Thanks,
Tom
