Our script (ScriptLINK) dials out on a modem and beeps the on-call person in 
the night and says "fix this now".  We fix it and the script is resumed.  We 
then complain the next morning to the person who left it open that our sleep 
was disturbed.  They don't enjoy the experience and are subsequently more 
careful.

I believe we have a script running which checks for this, and sends an e-mail 
to the designated person (Asst. Director I believe) to resolve.  Sorry, but I'm 
not sure if this is a Script Link or another interface tool, but it has worked 
well for us.

The script signs in as a robot-defined user, runs the List Unposted Batches for 
T, and if records are returned, it goes to an Outlook account and sends a 
canned e-mail to a pager or pager group.

What does everybody do (discipline-wise) when a cash drawer prevents
auto close from finishing?  This is a BIG issue for me because we have
many scheduled reports that rely on the close of day to kick off.  I
can't seem to impress the culprits with the importance of this.

We also use the Meditech's Auto Close and it works out really great.
The night Switchboard operators monitor it to make sure that day is
actually closed every night.  The only set back is if a Cash drawer
remains it has to be manually closed in order for the day to close.
