L-ers: My LAB director wants to know how other folks
are handling incorrect LAB orders. If a LAB order is entered on a wrong
patient and the labs are resulted, what is your procedure? Do you cancel the resulted tests with a reason
for cancellation, or do you let the results stand with a note that this is an incorrect
order? What if the results are abnormal? Do you still notify the patient’s
