I am so sure that we are not the only hospital that fights this issue, I know I will get some answers.

In $T Rad, our users were backdating/correcting orders for up to 45 days after the date of service.  No major problems with that if you don’t release the file from ABS to be billed.

Since we converted to ITS, our Radiology department is suddenly in the situation where the backdate parameter is set at 4 days, like our OE backdate for the entire rest of the hospital.  Obviously they can’t just change this because it will impact many more people than just their department, but they would like to still increase it.  They realize that stats will not auto-compile until that parameter is hit.

How are other sites dealing with changes that need to be made after reaching that cut-off, when the abstracting department corrects what was charged based on the report dictated by the performing physician?
