I am posting this again for our mammo tech as we didn't receive any
responses:
I am disappointed in the way meditech is calculating the Positive
Predictive Value . I am getting a high number of False Positives
because its calculating people who are being called back for additional
views that turn out to be negative as False Positive patients. In their
own statistic definitions it should be calculating disease found at
biopsy (which is MQSA standards also). These people just had additional
views that turned out negative and its calculating them in the equation.
How are other mammographers / facilities dealing with this issue?
Currently most of our problem cases are patients that have a screening
exam and need to come back to check out a site that ends up being
negative but this is days and weeks later than the original study. Is
there a way to set up the system differently? I currently use the f/u
list and patient letters print after the case is read, so holding the
exam unread is not an option for me. I will take any information that
may help our scenario, or I will change the way I input information if
it is needed. Please Help?????????
