We have the rejection batch report for each journal scheduled to spool
and print to a designated printer in the responsible department. It's
the department head's responsibility to fix (or assign someone to fix)
all rejected transactions. For various reasons, sometimes the scheduled
report doesn't print, so in our policy we also include that it's the
department head's responsibility to check spool files and/or the
rejection batch routine if a report isn't printed. I also report on
rejected transactions and late charges in our monthly Revenue Management
Task Force meeting. I have also met with different clinical areas to
evaluate their rejections and to figure out how to prevent them in the
future. As a result of these processes, our rejection batches have gone
down to an all-time low and the ones we do have are fixed or deleted
(correctly!) within 24 hours, in most cases. I do have one department
(a clinic) that hasn't addressed this at all. I have to meet with them
this week to discuss this.

Subject: RE: [MEDITECH-L] Daily Closing Rejection Batches

We (IT) send each department a list of rejected txns that pertain to
them. We wait for them to make corrections and the delete offsetting
txns or they give us information to edit the rejections ourselves.

I wrote a set of NPR reports to isolate the depts and also to provide
additional patient registration information that the standard rejected
txns list does not provide.

Randolph is reviewing the daily routines for BAR close. We have
automated a tremendous amount.

The rejection batches. Are these mainly handled in IT at your
facility or have you turned over to the departments.

        Thanks,

        Nancy Lucas
