Hi Scott,

Like you, we seal the accounts, not the records, using a script.  However, 
rather than sealing the accounts to specific users we set up several generic 
users for this purpose.  That way, when a given supervisor or medical records 
employee leaves, the generic user's password can be handed off to their 
replacement.

Does anyone have a policy (or thoughts on the subject) about sealing
records?  We have a few instances were we felt compelled to seal a
patient' s record.  Those who can access the sealed record are the
Privacy Officer, Information Security Officer, Risk Manager, Medical
Records Director, and nursing house supervisors.   We added house
supervisors out of concern the patient could return for treatment and
nursing needed a means to gain access to the record.   Additionally we
sealed just the visit in question not the entire record.
