We are also in the process of implementing EDM. This is what we are
planning to do. When the lab order is placed, we have the OE statuses
of VER,TRN, and LOG diplay red. When the OE status goes to IPR (meaning
the lab has rec'd the specimen) we change the tracker to black. Of
course it is only good for lab orders and the lab must receive promptly
(which ours does).

We are currently in the process of implementing EDM, and are
attempting to leverage the tracker to indicate when a specimen needs to
be collected. We have tried using treatment and results indicators to
make staff aware of when a specimen needs to be collected, but have been
unsuccessful in making it work because of the variation in workflow
related to the different times when a specimen could be collected. We
are interested in how other facilities are handling this communication.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
