Gail,

We are 5.5.2 CS and have implemented point of contact scanning in our
admissions areas with Meditech's SCA product. We are currently
utilizing card scanners and scanning only drivers licenses and insurance
cards. We have also purchased some small travel scanners that will do
sheets of paper. We look to use those for referral/authorization
paperwork and by only a few clerks, although our PCs have the ability to
have more than one scanner attached.

We have found that some of the full page documents were going to scan at
registration, may still be manipulated some before their final
destination in medical records so scanning them at the beginning was not
going to capture the complete correct version (doctors orders, consents,
etc.). We plan to scan what paper documents there are in the medical
record on the back end, in their final and complete state.

Thank You,

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Scanner Question

Hello All,
We are implementing Scanning in the Admissions areas here at my
facility.
With the need to scan insurance cards, drivers licenses, and other full
sheet documents, we are wondering what kinds of scanners other
facilities are using.

Any information would be most appreciated.

Thank you in advance,
