Subject: [MEDITECH-L] EDM-survey

Hi All,
Hope everyone is having a happy and healthy holiday season.
I have a few questions about EDM that I would like to present to the
Meditech world. Seems after a year of implementing EDM in our hospital,
the ER staff/physicians have done nothing but complain. Now they are
thinking of removing it from the ER and going back to paper. (Sounds
crazy I know).
Anyway I would like to know:

Are you using the EDM module successfully?
Yes.

What size is your hospital?
104 bed.

How many ER patients do you see (average) per day?
60 approximately.

Did you have many obstacles to overcome while implementing EDM?
We tried to implement when we were at version 4.8 now meditech requires
sites to be 5.4.

Did the physicians come on board willingly or kicking and screaming?
We currently have a new group of physicians who are ok with the system.
We made a few changes in the way we set up the system to accommodate
some of there concerns. The original group complained constantly and
wanted to take it down.

Did you implement NUR before putting EDM in your critical care area?
No.

Comments about the system:
When you consider all of the attributes of the integration with other
meditech modules ADM, NUR, RXM, PHA, OE, BAR, etc, it is a no brainier.
There is a learning curve with meditech for users to learn their
conventions and system flow. However I have not found a system that does
not have its own quirks. If you would like to discuss further feel free
to contact me.

I would like to hear from those who have any feedback good or bad about
this system. Seems like such a waste to just throw out without really
trying to fix the "problems". By the way, the ER can't really pinpoint
to us what the problems really are just vague issues. Something like too
long to document or Docs can't find what they need in the system. BLAH,
BLAH, BLAH.
Thanks in advance for your input.
Diane
