We currently are using the account number for the barcode from NPR. What I
am confused about is if you add a character to the barcode for the
armband, you have account # + 1 character. When I go to scan that
barcode, wouldn't it default in for the patient ID as the Account # plus
the character. How does Meditech say, oh yes, that is

How do you tell Meditech to recognize that barcode as the patient? I
don't recall anywhere to define that.

One way to prevent users from scanning a patient identifier found on other
documents is to create a unique barcode identifier just for
patient wristbands (one with an additional alpha numeric character, for
example). This unique barcode identifier would be printed upon admission
and should then be made available for re-printing only by certain
