The College of American Pathologists (CAP) has a laboratory
accreditation program.  Go to:

actionForm.contentReference%7D=laboratory_accreditation%2Faboutlap.html&
_state=maximized&_pageLabel=cntvwr

My understanding is if your hospital laboratory is actively accredited
by CAP, the JCAHO surveyors will not waste their time surveying the lab.

Subject: Re: [MEDITECH-L] new CAP questions for patient safety

Hi there. I see connections between the checklist below and the contents
of JCAHO's National Patient Safety Goals. But I have no idea what "CAP"
is. I hope someone will elaborate! Sharon

These goals include:
        >
        > 1. Patient/Specimen I.D. - % labeled incorrectly, not labeled
        > 2. Critical Value reporting - % documented that results were
called
