Hi guys,
Which manufacturer bar codes are not scanning? We have had a
terrible time with Bedford Labs. I called the company who said they are
aware of the problem and will increase the size of their linear barcode.
In the meantime, they recommended that I remove the UCC-EAN composite
code checking to only read the linear barcode. That fixed the problem.
This works on HHP SF IT4600 corded and Symbol DS3478 (cordless).
With the HHP, I called the company and had to upgrade the firmware to
read a type of RSS code which would not scan (Prevacid SolTab). To date,
both scanners can read all bar codes we've encountered. (The clear
plastic bags from Abbott are finally getting the white barcodes too)

Terry,
If your scanners don't support the barcodes that the drug manufacturers
use, you have 2 choices - you either get different scanners or you
repackage the offending items. In the pharmacy, I use a Metrologic
MS1690 that will read all but a very small number of our barcodes.

We are working on the implementation of BMV. I was wondering what other
facilities are doing to compensate for the unsupported barcode formats
such as RS Stacked and UPC-A. Also, what about some of the barcodes
that are so small the scanner will not recognize them? We are currently
working with Symbol DS6608 scanners.
