Hi Oscar and L'ers

Actually, the Data Repository (DR) generates the eMAR in a nicely formatted
Adobe Acrobat file and publishes it to PCs located at each of the hospital's
Units. The reports are updated on a 10 minute cycle, a frequency not
possible using an NPR report. The Unit PCs, along with a local printer, are
connected to backup power (red outlets) making each Unit's report available
whether MEDITECH applications go down, the network goes down, or power goes
down. Each report not only provides eMAR administration documentation for
the previous 24 hours but also projects forward 24 hours providing
appropriate space for documentation of existing active meds as well as space
for new meds to be ordered during planned or unplanned downtime.

Using the DR running in continuous update mode has proven to be a very
robust eMAR/BMV downtime solution and this strategy has been employed at
several other MEDITECH hospitals. Please feel free to contact Mike Grisanti
or me if you would like additional details or to look at a sample of the
downtime eMAR report.

Hello Mike and L'ers,

Backing up the eMAR on the DR is a good idea, but does not solve the network
downtime. If the network goes down, you will not be able to reach the eMAR
on the DR. Mprint Server is independent of your network. With eMAR stored on
a local PC in each dept/ward, even if the network is down you can print the
eMAR to a local printer. Network downtime is a more common downtime then
MEDITECH going down.

Please visit our website at www.interbitdata.com
<http://www.interbitdata.com/> and under downloads, you can install a FREE
trial version of Mprint Server. If you have any questions, please feel free
to call me.

We are LIVE housewide with eMARS. We pull eMAR data from DR via a report.
It updates about every 10 minutes. Nursing units have an eMAR downtime
report icon mapped onto their desktops.

In the event of a planned or unplanned downtime they simply click on the
icon and print their downtime eMAR.

Documentation is recorded on this report and then once we are back online
they "catch" up electonically.

We also FTP an NPR report as a back up but it is much slower than DR.

use Automate to script the e-MAR and some other reports to run and download

Greetings, L-listers,

How have other sites backed up the electronic Medication Administration
Record for printing when there is an unplanned Meditech downtime?

We are Magic 5.5 SR3. Using Meditech's FTP routine, we've been able to
spool the MAR to a PC hard-drive but the report scheduling routine does not
seem to allow hourly or semi-hourly scheduling. How have others resolved
the need for frequent backup?

TIA -

We are a C/S, 5.5, SR2 site.

We have been LIVE with the ORM for about 2 years and our anesthesia record
is still paper. So far they do not want to document on Meditech until we
are able to interface to their monitors. We have not won that battle and if
any sites do have anesthesia documenting in the ORM please post.

In our PACU they use the ORM for the most part. If the patient is being
admitted post PACU they do one assessment in PCS before the patient leaves
summarizing their PACU time and the last set of VS so that information flows
to the appropriate panels in the EMR.

Hi Mitch,

You can do the following for the GE and GT operators: "VALUE"^b.selection

You can do the following for the LE and LT operators: "VALUE"^e.selection

Unfortunately we don't have the MB and ME keywords available to our
selections in Meditech C/S. Does anyone know how to default in values for GE

For an LI operator, we can use:
1^c.selection[VALUE]

For a RL operator we can use:
ENDVALUE^c.selection[BEGINVALUE]

I've tried
1^b.selection[VALUE]
And
1^e.selection[VALUE]
Neither work, unfortunately. Any help you can provide will be most

Hi Brenda,

We're C/S 5.5 SR2, and use the OR for PACU, both Primary and Secondary, for
Inpatients and Outpatients. We do not use the Anesthesia portion. Our
Anesthesia Staff is still on paper. In a past conversation with our OR
Specialist at Meditech, I was told that they are looking at revamping the
Anesthesia component or possibly even considering developing a separate
application for Anesthesia.
