We are C/S v5.5.2. We set the OE category dictionary parameter for
"Hold Future Orders" to "Y" on the Gen Info page, and then we set the
field "Process on T-1 at" to 2200. This means that at 10pm every night,
all the orders placed in OE for Lab for the following day will come
across to Lab. This means at 10:00pm, we see all the midnight timed
specimens. Our Phlebo's then pull them on a collection batch and we
rarely have a problem with midnight draws. Maybe this will help?

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Lab Collections batches and "0000".

We have struggled for years with the problem of lab procedures ordered
for midnight by OE. Our collection batches are divided up into the
typical hours, and pool, stat, and urgent categories. The last category
of the day is 2300 which looks for specimens from 2300 to 2359. We have
the next day's testing, coming across at midnight - lab does not see the
next day's orders until that time.

The problem is this:

If a patient needs a "0000" blood sugar, we have tried training staff to
order it for 2359, so lab can see it in advance, plan their work
accordingly, and collect it in a timely manner. This just is not
working, especially now with POM, and training and reminders just don't
work.

Does anyone have any creative ways to deal with this problem?

I want at least the "0000" specimen orders to be seen in advance. Any
suggestions?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Kind Regards,

     Diane
