We are having the following issue: Physician A either writes or electronically enters a medication order Physician B who is covering for Physician A later either edits or discontinues the order in POM
Both are attending physicians who do not require co-signature of orders. Our OE Parameters are set as follows: Queue Med Edits for Original Ordering Physician? Y We set it this way so that if Pharmacy made an edit or nursing made an edit to a med order - the ordering doctor would get the order change queued to his/her E-Sign list. However this is causing it to queue orders that were edited by doctors who do not require co-signature to the original ordering doctors E-Sign list. It is bad enough that it is affecting physicians who are using POM but it is also affecting physicians who are not. The physicians are confused and annoyed that they have to sign orders that were entered by another physician. We are rolling POM out to our hospitalists and foresee that this will be an even bigger issue for them. Meditech does not plan to make any changes to allow differentiation of E-Sign order edits that were made by non physicians versus edits that were made by physicians and were signed by the editing physician. Have other sites encountered this and if so - how are you handling it?
