Hi,

 I have a report in PHA.RX, . I am using the dc.order.index. This report
is printing dc meds and dc comments. If they entered "Wrong order type" in
the dc comments they do not want those meds to print. On the report I have
a line attribute [EMAIL PROTECTED](dc.comment.q) and LCR=END. The comments are
printing on the report. I just can't figure out to get the select to work
correctly. I tried using NE or NC but that does not work. I think I need
to set this up in a macro but not sure.

Hi Cynthia,

I was trained in NUR, OE and PHA so I support all of them although my
cup of tea is NUR because I was an end-user for a long time. It is
easier for me to troubleshoot problems. I also support LAB, RAD and PCI.
(PCI-I share this with the other manager). Hope this helps.

After we trained on the pathology system, we realized during set up,
that we did not have the reporting or tracking capability that we did in
our other pathology system. We made the decision to have pathology
continue working in our other system, "Total Tracking". We scripted the
data from Total Tracking into Meditech's pathology. It has been
working great for us. We are now working on taking the data from Total
Tracking and integrating it into our Tumor Registry software.

Hi Trish,

I'll start with #3... Go to process resource or resource group, edit, and
then edit the person's schedule there. You can give the staff access to that
on the verb strip without giving them the dictionaries. I wouldn't edit it
the way you are doing it now. You want to leave the dictionaries alone and
only edit for consistent, more permanent changes not vacations and days off.

#1...On page 1 of your appt type dictionary, did you put a Y or N to the
following question?
Use The Same Resources When Booking A Series? Y
This should then prompt you to create a series. When you book an appt,
it would pop up and say "create series for this patient" and you say yes.
Then you get to the next screen to allow how you want the series to fall,
daily, weekly, same time,....

#2... I am not sure how you are trying to schedule the appts since you
should be able to book a patient for more than one but in separate steps.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call and maybe I can help.

Thanks, Sandi

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Scheduling

Hi everyone. Have another (three) questions for you smart people.

We have currently been 'parallel' scheduling in the physical therapy
department for about a month. Everything has been working well. The bugs
we found we were able to be worked out. The problem is: the secretary
there in that department that has been doing all the scheduling is
relocating to the Human Resources department so she won't be scheduling
anymore. With this, we have to 'train' the physical therapy staff to know
how to schedule. There are 'tricks' that the secretary and I can do that
we're unable to show the staff d/t access. These are the things I'm having
trouble with:
        1. Currently, we are unable to schedule an appointment series
beyond 1 week. The
secretary and I are even having trouble. We have FULL access
are not even able
to do this. What are we doing wrong? Is there
something in the dictionary that I
                    have set up wrong?
        2. When we schedule an appointment for a patient, we may have a
couple of
different tests or procedures that we need to schedule.
Example: A patient is
booked for a PT appointment, but needs a Speech appointment as
well. These are
two different resource groups, and the system will not allow
us to schedule two
different appointments with two different resource's. Any
ideas here?
        3. The secretary at the time was able to change the PT staffs
schedules around to
show when they had a day off, had vacation, etc. She
would go into the
                    Resources/Schedule Dictionaries and into Resource
Schedules to edit. I can't give
the PT staff access to the dictionaries, so is there
another place they can go to
change their Schedules according to their days off,
vacations, etc.?

I hope I've explained this correctly. If not, please feel free to ask. I
appreciate, as always, Any help anyone is able to give.
Thanks!

Hello All,
We recently ran into a problem caused by two Providers with the exact
same name. Only one of these providers was in our Provider Dictionary.
They also happened to each have a patient by the exact same name (two
different patients). So Dr.Smith-1 had a patient by the name of Mary
Jones, and Dr.Smith-2 also had a patient by the name of Mary Jones....a
different Mary Jones.
Needless to say, this caused confusion and lab results for Dr.Smith-1's
Mary went to Dr.Smith-2. He did not catch that the results were for the
wrong patient and treated his Mary for the other Mary's health problems.
WOW.... So, I am wondering how you at the larger facilities (we are
relatively small)...deal with doctors who have the same name and similar
mnemonics. Our registration clerks did not catch that the Dr.Smith on
the prescription which the patient presented to them, was different than
the one Dr.Smith we had in our Provider Dictionary in Meditech. Our LAB
and Admissions Directors are wondering if a "pop-up" screen could
display during the Meditech registration process which would list the
doc's full name & office address, etc. Any suggestions as to how to
flag the "same name" physicians would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Below is a description of a description of a consulting engagement that
HCGH is in need of.....does anyone have experience with a consulting
firm who has completed a similar engagement for your organization, that
you would recommend?

Please advise.

Thank you in advance for your feedback!

Howard County General Hospital (HCGH) will be engaging an IT consulting
firm to conduct an evaluation and needs assessment of our current
medical staff credentialing, QA, and risk management functions, to
determine our best IT strategy for these functional areas.

Phase 1 would include:

- each functional area's current IT capabilities (although not all
capabilities may be currently being utilized)
- each functional area's IT needs and requirements, therefore conducting
a gap analysis
- IT integration needs and requirements - across/between these
functional areas
- IT integration needs and requirements - between these functional areas
and other systems/applications at HCGH (e.g. case management, HIM,
surgery, billing, etc)

Delverables would include detailed report with all findings and
recommendations along with onsite executive summary presentation of the
entire engagement.

Phase 2 would include:

- Development of a Request for Proposal(s) to distribute to vendors who
offer IT solutions that best fit the IT needs and requirements of these
functional areas.
- Development of a short list of vendors to distribute the RFP(s) to for
inclusion in a vendor evaluation/selection process.
- Project management of the entire vendor evaluation/selection process,
including successful contract negotiations.

Deliverables would include the RFP(s), summaries/comparisons of vendor
proposals, results of the committee decision-making process that leads
to the vendor of choice selection, and onsite executive summary of the
entire engagement.

Phase 1 and Phase 2 should be priced separately and independently of
each other, so that HCGH can choose either or both, without impact on
the individual pricing of each phase.

Anticpated timeframe for consulting engagement will be April 2007 thru
June 2007 (Phase 1) and July 2007 thru September 2007 (Phase 2).

Please advise if you plan on submitting a proposal for this engagement
or not. If you are going to, please email references of hospitals where
your company has done a very similar engagment. If you have not ever
done one of these, please indicate that as well. Thanks!

We are a CS 5.5.2 site and we use Community Wide Scheduling for our Physical
Medicine Department. We use our therapists as resources
We do not use the Series appointment function to schedule our patients for
multiple appointments. We use Process Appointment Book function and
schedule one treatment and then copy and paste the rest of the appointments
to the other days and time.
We also use the Process Appointment Book routine to edit the therapist
schedule also. We go to the Edit button and make any changes for that day
or any other that needs any changes. We only go to the Resource Schedule
dictionary for permanent changes that need to be made to the schedule.

I hope this helps

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Scheduling

Hi everyone. Have another (three) questions for you smart people.

We have currently been 'parallel' scheduling in the physical therapy
department
for about a month. Everything has been working well. The bugs we found we
were
able to be worked out. The problem is: the secretary there in that
department that has
been doing all the scheduling is relocating to the Human Resources
department so she
won't be scheduling anymore. With this, we have to 'train' the physical
therapy
staff to know how to schedule. There are 'tricks' that the secretary and I
can do that we're
unable to show the staff d/t access. These are the things I'm having
trouble with:
        1. Currently, we are unable to schedule an appointment series
beyond 1 week. The
secretary and I are even having trouble. We have FULL access
are not even able
to do this. What are we doing wrong? Is there
something in the dictionary that I
                    have set up wrong?
        2. When we schedule an appointment for a patient, we may have a
couple of
different tests or procedures that we need to schedule.
Example: A patient is
booked for a PT appointment, but needs a Speech appointment as
well. These are
two different resource groups, and the system will not allow
us to schedule two
different appointments with two different resource's. Any
ideas here?
        3. The secretary at the time was able to change the PT staffs
schedules around to
show when they had a day off, had vacation, etc. She
would go into the
                    Resources/Schedule Dictionaries and into Resource
Schedules to edit. I can't give
the PT staff access to the dictionaries, so is there
another place they can go to
change their Schedules according to their days off,
vacations, etc.?

I hope I've explained this correctly. If not, please feel free to ask. I

Any help anyone is able to give.

I am interested in any feedback, good or bad, on the Iatric SAM

75 customers are live with SAM, so I was hoping some of those 75 lurk on
the "L" or the CS List. :-)

Thanks,

Works well for us. We mostly use it along with our end-user audit

Is there anyone out there who has purchased a Digi-trax HemaTrax label
printer and software to print ISBT-128 labels that would be willing to
answer a couple of question?

1. Does the software require a stand alone PC or can it be loaded on a PC
currently in the lab used to run the Meditech application?

2. Did you go through JJWild or did you purchase the printer and software

Keeping TEST and LIVE 100% in sync is extremely difficult. At a previous
organization, before testing something major, we used to have Meditech copy
LIVE onto TEST so that just before testing, they were an exact match.

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Using the live directory for testing

Hi,

We currently use Meditech 5.5. sr 2. We're getting ready to open another
facility.
We have been doing the Meditech configuration in our test environment and
have all dictionaries/parameters built in test and live. Before we go live,
we will be testing our system by doing a "day in the life" scenario. So,
we'll run accts. through the system beginning to end using various scenarios
and testing all adm/fin/cli application functionality. We'll also be
testing interfaces between some of our clinical systems like PACS, Pyxis and
some niche CV systems.

You know how hard it is to keep live and test in synch, and some of our
niche systems don't have test interfaces, so............we're thinking of
running all the scenario accounts through our live Meditech system so we
really get a true test of how live will work. Our plan is to then go back
and "back out" as much as we can. There will be a total of about 25 accts.

yikes....Has anyone done this before and if so, what issues did you run into
that you couldn't remedy on the back end, or which caused other serious
issues?

Thanks,
Joni
