We are planning to implement the BMV product this year. Do you have, and are you willing to share a projected and/or realized ROI for the project?
Are you using COWs or computers in the rooms? Do you plan to use wireless handheld computers when Meditech supports barcoding with them? Are you using hardwired or wireless scanners? Any experience on what works best would be appreciated. Would you suggest going LIVE with EMAR first, or go straight to BMV? Some reports indicate BMV causes "an increase in reported medication errors". Have you seen an increase or decrease in errors? Is it because the "reported" or the "errors" increased? Can you provide any statistics from your facility? Can you reference any current (2004-2006) literature that documents the benefits/ obstacles/ drawbacks of BMV? One article I read states the percentage of hospitals using BMV has risen from around 1.5% in 2002 to 9% in 2005. This is a "happening" event, so I'm sure others would appreciate you for posting your response to the "L". Thanks in advance.
