Joni - For BHS we have the charge associated with the appointments in
CWS. So when we set up an appointment it follows over to OE. If the
patient has medicare and has been pre-reg and/or registration has been
completed the ABN screen comes up and we are able to enter the dx code in
and if it fails than we print the ABN for signatures.

It does not come up for the appointments that we just Schedule without being
registered. This is a problem. If you should have any other questions,
please let me know.

For those of you placing orders at the time of scheduling, does the prompt
to print the ABN from MT occur while you are placing orders in SCH? What is
your process of the getting the ABN signed?

Thanks, Joni.

Hi Sheral;

We have MT C/S and the medical necessity checking is down at the time that
the appointment is placed and the order that is attached to that appointment
is completed with the reason for visits.

The medical necessity is set up on the BAR side for certain procedures.

Sincerely;

For those of you who are using the CWS/OE link for orders associated with
appointment types, when does the Medical Necessity checking actually happen?
At the time of scheduling, or at the time of registration, when the system
actually passes the order to the interface?

Thanks!
