Last week we had to reboot a server from what I think was a
OS software problem ("frozen disk"). I got my information
second hand from others on our staff, so I don't have an
exact description.

In the 17 years I have been working with Meditech systems,
this is the second time we had unanticipated downtime due
to Meditech software issues.

The first time was back in the early 1990's when all Meditech
systems worldwide went down due to a register overflow in a
termserver driver. Seems we moved to a date and time that was
one second to big for the allotted memory. We were only
down 2 hours. Although to be fair, we benefitted by England
and the East Coast going down before us. We got a phone call
to warn us, so we had a clean shut down.

I like to bring up this extraordinary reliability statistic
when people launch into general complaining that we need a
better platform. I find a record of seventeen years with
a total of 6 hours of downtime simply astounding.

My question: Does anyone actually remember the date of the
termserver failure? I am guessing it was between 1991 and 1993.
