Subject: Patients own med
Hello all,
I have a question that I believe every Pharmacy has had to contend with but
offers particular challenges in the electronic world. How do you handle or set
up in POM an order for a patient to use his/her own med. If the medication has
no substitution in the formulary and the patient has to use their own,how does
the physician place the order? Create a "dummy" med called "Pt. own med" and
ask them to provide the necessary info? Can the non-formulary function be used
strictly for this function? This info needs to work on the EMAR also. Any ideas
out there? Thanks for any insight.
