Hi Gloria,

We have PACS for last 3 years. Any amended order is cancelled an a new
order is entered. and these accession numbers have unique identity which
should not be edited. This principle will be your change in workflow.

There are no shortcuts!!!!!!!!!!!!

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Meditech ITS PACS Number

For those of you out there with PACS systems, what number do you use as
your PACS number from ITS...accession number or order number? We've
used accession number since we've had a PACS system. We have AMICAS
PACS and have been LIVE for about 3 years now. The accession number in
Meditech has a decimal with 3 digit decimal precision. Usually, all of
the studies' accession numbers are .001 only. The only time we really
ever see an accession number with .002 is when an order is amended. Our
radiologist's want to get rid of the decimal and 3 digits after the
decimal. This is a hard coded number in Meditech in which the format
cannot be changed. We could strip off the decimal in the interface to
PACS. However, I have concerns about problems with how the system would
handle amended orders since the procedures would have the same accession
number except the .001 and .002. My thought was to change workflow and
not amend orders any more. Rather, they would cancel and enter new
orders. Have you all run into this issue? What are you all doing?
